Open Days

“I have felt very welcomed by Plumbcare.com and everyone I have met has been very supportive. The engineers I’ve been working with are very knowledgeable and know their jobs. They give good advice and I have felt very involved and part of the team. Knowing you’re only a phone call away from a fellow engineer or gas tech for advice is how it should be. Very much a team run company who try and help each other. “

Michael Fisher

The Problem

For the past 20 years, Michael has been working as a commercial pipefitter and plumber. He predominantly worked within the education and healthcare sector, working with newly built schools and hospitals.

Following Michael’s promotion to site supervisor, he was determined to develop his skills within the industry and access new opportunities for the benefit of the business and his employers. A natural progression from his industry knowledge and experience was training to become Gas Safe Qualified, providing Michael with the expertise to perform his role with confidence.

The Solution

When Michael reached out, he was excited to embark on his journey to becoming Gas Safe Registered. To qualify he needed ACS accreditation and work placement which he completed with Plumbcare.

Brookhouse provides every student with a 100% guaranteed local work placement out in the industry, with over 77% of placements resulting in future offers of employment. Plumbcare have recently begun working with Brookhouse Gas Training, to provide placements for students training to become gas engineers. These placements require a minimum of 40 days shadowing with experienced heating engineers and gaining experience in a range of tasks required to sit their gas exams and qualify.

Michael was one of the first students to attend Plumbcare’s placement programme and to no surprise, was recognised by Plumbcare for his talent and work ethic.

I enjoy the variety of work you can do on a day-to-day basis – no two days are the same. I especially enjoy boiler breakdowns: knowing that you repaired a customer’s boiler and solved the problem is very satisfying. My ambition is to become Gas Safe qualified and get familiar with different boiler makes and fault diagnosis procedures. I want to learn as much as I can and be a good gas engineer.
