Professional Plumbing Course

This course is aimed at people wishing to become self-employed as a plumber. Although this is mainly a practical course, we do cover theory on hot & cold water systems and the configuration of central heating systems, to give candidates a very good understanding of the industry.

In fact, what we have done is taken the ‘best bits’ out of the City & Guilds 6189 qualification, and coupled this with a lot of ‘real-world’, useful training.

Covers areas such as:

  • Working & using 15mm & 22mm copper pipes
  • Pipe-work fabrication – copper, plastic & steel jointing
  • Pipe bending – 15mm & 22mm copper pipes
  • Copper pipe jointing/soldering & testing under pressure
  • Fitting soil & waste pipes
  • Fitting & working with 15mm & 22mm plastic
  • Fitting tap connectors
  • Fitting isolation valves
  • Cold & hot water theory
  • Sanitation theory
  • Full cylinder install
  • Full bathroom suite installation including: bath, WC, WHB, water pipes & wastes
  • Bathroom decommissioning
  • Fault finding & repair
  • Stripping down and repairing taps/valves and repairing washers
  • Central heating installation – theory & practical
  • BPEC Water Regulations/Byelaws

BPEC Approved Water Regulations/Byelaws

Duration 1 Day

Brookhouse Training Centre is approved by BPEC to provide training and assessment for those of you looking to apply for approved plumbing contractor status with the Water Authorities.

The course does not require the candidate to undertake prior learning as all the requirements will be covered during the course.

Upon completion, the successful candidates will receive a certificate and card in order to apply for approved contractor status.

This part of the course covers the Water Regulations 1999 and will provide you with the knowledge required to be assessed on BPEC Water Regulation certificate.

Successful completion of the Water Regulations course will enable candidates to apply to their local water company to be an ‘approved contractor’ for water regulation purposes. This means that you can self-certify your plumbing work and also meets the required criteria for the approved list of organisations including local authorities, housing associations, social housing groups and insurance companies.
