Brookhouse Training Centre - FAQ - Get Gas Qualified with the UK's #1 Gas Courses

Q. How Much Is Your Training?

A. This is by far one of our most popular questions! At Brookhouse Training we are very aware, that cost is a very big factor for many people looking to retrain. With this in mind we are constantly checking our prices to make sure we are more than competitive.

We believe we offer the most GENUINE value for money anywhere. Our courses start from as little as £500 and go right up to £6,495

We also have access to government funding for many of our courses to help students through their training.

And all of our students get the additional option of our unique Brookhouse Business Portal.

Q. What Happens When I Finish My Training?

A. This in all honesty is the single most important question you should be asking. Because, the training more or less takes care of itself so long as it's not one of those "distance" learning courses (See why below on the next question).

Sadly, once you've completed your training you're left on your own as the vast majority of training centres are only interested in one thing, TRAINING. Here at BTC we offer a full & complete package where by we help you get set up in business with our very own BTC Start Up Package which we believe is vital to your success.

Q. I've Heard of "Open/Distance" Learning. What Does This Mean & Do You Do It?

A. First of all NO we don't do "Open/Distance" learning. Basically this is a cheap way for centres to deliver training. What they tell you is that, "it's the best way to learn" because you can "study at home at your own pace" then when you think you're ready, "come in and see us and do some practical sessions..."

What in effect they are saying is, "Teach yourself in your kitchen/bedroom/at home how to be a plumber, electrician or gas engineer" by reading a book and/or watching a DVD.

If learning was this simple why do we bother having; schools, colleges and universities? And what do you think happens when you get stuck? You can't exactly pop your hand up and ask for help...

Let me ask you this. Would you let a Gas engineer, Plumber or an Electrician loose on your house if he had taught himself from a book? I doubt it...

So how do we do things differently? Quite simply we train all our students in centre on BOTH theory & practical 100% - That is the only way to learn a practical skill.

Q. Do I Need Any Specials Tools or Equipment When I Come In To Your Centre?

A. No we provide all the course materials, books & study guides. We also provide all the tools you need while in centre. All you need to bring is an open mind & a willingness to learn.

Q. Why Should I Get A Career In Construction?

A. Another great question and rather than us telling you why here are some interesting facts from independent sources:

FACT: Shell Oil has predicted that 50% of all the world's energy will come renewable energy sources by 2040

On future skills shortages..."the hardest to fill jobs in and up to 2010-2012 will be gas engineers, plumbers & electricians..." - City & Guilds Rare Species report.

"7 Million British households STILL require renovation work" - Halifax Home Insurance

"Plumbing has been revealed as the most 'in demand' job in a survey of the most recession proof job sectors in the UK." - Daily Mail.

Q. Do I Have To Pay In Full Up Front For My Training Fees?

A. Of course you are welcome to pay in full, like most students. However, we have options which allow you to spread the cost of your training including an interest free "Pay As You Train" scheme. (No credit-check required).

Q. What Qualifications Do You Offer?

A. We offer industry standard qualifications. All our courses are accredited by industry bodies such as: CITB, City & Guilds, BPEC, Gas Safe, Corgi.

Q. Can I Visit Your Centre Before I Decide To Train?

A. Absolutely. We encourage all our students to come and see our centre before they make any decisions. You can do this on one of our "Open Mornings" on a Saturday.

Or if you prefer you are more than welcome to come along through the week and if you like you can chat to our students and tutors. After all you wouldn't buy a car without first having a look at it would you?

Q. How Long Does The Training Take?

A. We have part-time; weekend or evening courses which run for around 5-6 months. We also have full time courses which take between 3 and 8 weeks depending on what course you decide to do.

Q. I Have No Formal Qualifications - Does This Matter?

A. No we don't look at your previous school qualifications such as O levels, GCSE's or A levels etc. All we are looking for are people who are willing to learn. We have students from all kinds of backgrounds age and experience.

Q. How Do I Enrol?

A. Simple...you have two choices:

You can come in to our centre and we'll help you fill in the paperwork.
We can post your enrollment forms out to you in the mail and talk you through the process over the phone.

Q. When Can I Start Working?

A. This is up to you depending on what qualifications you already have & what training you are undertaking. Many of our courses allow you to start work once you've completed your first in centre assessments - So you can really kick start your new career!

Q. When Do Your Courses Start?

A. Unlike many "other" centres, we don't pretend that we have limited places and that you are lucky "if" you get accepted...just to hurry you in to a decision.

We have courses starting every month so you can begin your training when you're good and ready. Obviously our courses do fill up each month so if you miss out one month, we will try to get you on the next course.

Q. Do I Need To Be Able To Drive?

A. Yes. Not to train with ourselves but you will need a car or van to carry out your job, unless of course your new employer provides your transport.

Q. I Live Too Far Away To Commute - Do You Have Any Accommodation?

A. Not a problem. Because of the quality of our training and our guaranteed work placements, students travel from far and wide to come to our centre. And because we train so many students, we have been able to negotiate very competitive rates with local B&B's and are able to offer accommodation at very competitive rates (accommodation from £67.50 per week).

Q. What is your pass rate?

A. An extremely important question, after all you don't want to invest in training and fail. Here at Brookhouse Training Centre we are very proud to have the industry's highest pass rate in the whole country. We currently have a 97% pass rate through our training centre, we believe this is down to a number of factors:

  • We ensure ALL your training is fully managed 100% in centre. We don't allow you to teach yourself from a book like many other 'distance learning' centres who advise you to learn on your own at home.
  • We have excellent tutors who have many years working experience in the industry
  • Our class sizes are kept to a maximum of 12 students
  • We ensure ALL our students are guaranteed a work placement to run alongside their training

If you have a question that we haven't covered here, please feel free to contact either on the phone or via email from our Contact Us Page.
